Robert I. Field, J.D., M.P.H., Ph.D.

Robert I. Field is director of the graduate program in health policy and associate professor of health policy at University of the Sciences in Philadelphia. The program provides interdisciplinary training and conducts research on major issues affecting the health care industry. Dr. Field’s research and publications have focused on ethical and legal issues in managed care, public policy and genetic screening, and health care industry restructuring.

 

Prior to joining University of the Sciences in Philadelphia, Dr. Field was in charge of business planning and development for the primary care network of the University of Pennsylvania Health System. He led many of the acquisitions of physician practices that created the network, directed other business development transactions, and developed business and marketing plans for the network’s growth. He has also conducted health policy research at the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences and the Center for Law and Health Sciences at Boston University and has practiced health law with the Philadelphia firm of Ballard Spahr Andrews & Ingersoll. He is a senior fellow of the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics at the University of Pennsylvania and a member of the adjunct faculty of the Wharton School.

 

Dr. Field received a Ph.D. in psychology from Boston University, a master’s in public health from the Harvard School of Public Health, a law degree from Columbia University, and an undergraduate degree magna cum laude from Harvard College.
