  • VIKRAM (VIK) DEEPAK BAKHRU, MD

    • Vikram is a 2001 honors graduate of George Washington University where he completed the seven year combined BS/MD degree program.  He then began his general surgery residency at Hahnemann University Hospital in June 2005.  He will return to his residency after completing the MBA Program.  While in medical school, he founded the Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children (FIMRC) with the mission of providing access to medical care for medically underserved children around the world.  A Nicaraguan refugee settlement became the site of FIMRC’S first clinic. Starting with seven volunteers, the Foundation has grown to over 3000 volunteers and staff.  

  • JOHN MUCIO BARKETT
    • John graduated from Harvard University in 2004 with a BA degree in Economics.  Following graduation he joined Medica HealthCare Plans in Coral Gables, FL, a provider-sponsored health plan with a Medicare Advantage Contract from CMS.  As Senior Financial Analyst, he was the primary analyst focused on performance improvement in the firm’s key functions including budgeting, business planning, enrollment, contracting, utilization, and sales incentives.

  • KATHERINE (KAYTEE) MARIE BOCK

    • Kaytee is a 2002 Honors graduate of San Francisco State University where she majored in Mathematics.  Following graduation, she joined Corgentech (now Anesiva) as a Research Associate in the Oncology group responsible for running pre-clinical efficacy studies.  In 2005, she joined Genentech as a Research Associate in Translational Oncology.  She was promoted to Associate Market Planning Manager in the Market Planning Group.  

  • COLIN (COL) NIGEL BRISTOW, MD

    • Colin completed the Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery degree at the University of Leeds, U.K. in 2003.  He then did internship years at Leeds Teaching Hospital and Harrogate Hospital. From 2004 to 2006 he was a Senior House Officer in Emergency Medicine at Harrogate Hospital and a Senior House Officer in Orthopedic, General and Breast Surgery at York Hospital and Mid Yorkshire Hospital.  In 2006, he joined Covance, Leeds, UK as Pharmaceutical Clinical Research Physician, responsible for assessing the feasibility of drugs for development and clinical trials. .

  • LUCAS WILLIAM BUCHANAN

    • Lucas graduated from Duke University in 1999 with a BA degree in Economics.  Following graduation, he joined Ernst & Young Corporate Finance, New York, NY, a boutique financial advisory and investment bank.  As an Associate in Mergers & Acquisitions he analyzed and assisted in the execution of corporate finance transactions including Mergers & Acquisitions, private equity and debt financing and LBOs.  He transferred to the firm’s Los Angeles office in 2001 where he spent a year in the Health Sciences Group executing transactions for clients in the medical technology, healthcare services, biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries.  In 2002 he joined Medtronic Vascular Division, Santa Rosa, CA as an Associate in the Business Development Group.  He served as project manager for business development projects including Mergers and Acquisitions, strategic alliances, joint ventures, minority investments, and technology licenses and divestitures.  In 2005 he transferred to the marketing group as a Global Marketing Manager, Carotid Solutions where he established the strategic direction, product development strategy and commercialization efforts for the product portfolio globally.

  • CAROLINE HYE RYUNG CHANG

    • Caroline is a 2001 Honors graduate of Dartmouth College where she majored in Economics and Psychology.  Following graduation she joined Citigroup Investment Bank as an analyst in the Mergers & Acquisition Group.  In 2002 she accepted a position with Johnson & Johnson as a Market Research Analyst developing market overviews and analyzing acquisition target companies for the business development team.  She also led a launch team through market research activities and provided recommendations on commercial and clinical development of the product.  She was promoted to Manager in 2006, responsible for various market research projects for business development deals and for two new products in the United States.

  • GEORGE RAYBURN CHEELY

    • George is a 2003 Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Amherst College where he majored in English.  He has completed three years of Penn medical school and is completing the joint MD/MBA program.  Following graduation from Amherst, he spent a year doing ecology research in New Zealand as a Fulbright Fellow.  As a first year medical student he was selected to join the School’s “Botswana Experience”, an opportunity to work for six weeks in Gabarone with the Holy Cross hospice developing youth programs and helping to expand palliative care services and financial resources.  He also joined with twelve fellow medical students to start a similar program in Guatemala.  The program is now recognized by Penn Medical School.

  • LU CHEN, PhD

    • Lu is a 1999 Honors graduate of Fudan University, Shanghai, China where she received a BS in Biology.  She completed a PhD degree in Biology at the University of Texas in 2003.  She spent two years as a Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, FL studying the role of diet and hormones in the development of colon cancer.  In 2005 she became a post-doctoral fellow at Baylor College of Medicine where she led two research projects on breast cancer prevention and treatment.

  • JONATHAN ALEXANDER COOPER

    • Jonathan is a 2003 Magna Cum Laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he received a BA degree in History and Hispanic Studies.  Following graduation he completed a 5-month internship at the Hudson Institute where he did research on Middle East policy.  In 2004 he joined Mercer Oliver Wyman, Washington, DC as a consultant in the firm’s financial services strategy and enterprise risk management practice working with a wide range of clients including a Fortune 100 pharmaceutical company.  With a growing interest in health care, he moved to WellCare Health Plans in Tampa, FL in 2005.  Starting in analytical support, his role has grown to direct responsibility for the corporate operations budget, the implementation of a new budget and capacity planning process, and the launch of a planning process for defining an IT strategy.

  • KENNETH (KEN) LEYBOURNE CUSTER, PhD

    • Ken graduated from Reed College in 2001 with a BA degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.  He completed a PhD degree in Neurobiology and Behavior at the University of Washington in 2006.  He then became a Senior Fellow at the University of Washington in the lab of Dr. Sandra Bajjalieh, investigating the role of the protein SV2 in regulating neurotransmission and epilepsy.  The research was published in the Journal of Neuroscience.  Ken has employed modern techniques in biotechnology such as viral mediated gene transfer, bioinformatics, and recombinant protein expression and collaborated closely with research scientists working in industry.

  • Sean Michael Dempsey

    • Sean graduated from Harvard in 2002 with a BS degree in Chemistry.  Following graduation, he joined Tommy Boy Entertainment, an independent record label in the sales and marketing division, responsible for developing budgets and creating marketing plans.  From 2003 to 2005 he was an Analyst with Credit Suisse First Boston Health Care Group working on transactions in the pharmaceutical, medical device, and health care services sectors.  He then joined Kinderhook Industries, a New York-based private equity fund where he spent the majority of his time pursuing investment opportunities in the health care sector.

  • David Devereux Dennis
    • David graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 2001 where he received a BS degree in Engineering.  Following graduation he joined Johnson & Johnson – Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc.  He was promoted through several positions to Business Relationship Lead, Commercial Business – Information Management.  In this role he was responsible for developing a business intelligence competency center and providing risk analysis and strategy planning for inventory management systems integration.  A focus of his work was to streamline worldwide product delivery by partnering with commercial business and distributors. 

  • Morli Subhash Desai
    • Morli is a 2003 Honors graduate of Emory University where she received a BBA degree in Business Administration and English.  Following graduation, she joined Bear Stearns & Co. as an Analyst in the Health Care Investment Banking Group.  She became an expert quantitative modeler in the Health Care Group and was selected to teach the quantitative portion of summer and first-year analyst training.  In 2005, she joined BlackRock Kelso Capital, a start-up private equity firm focused on middle market investments in multiple industries.  She led the healthcare effort for the firm and was promoted to Associate. 

  • Sujit Dike
    • Sujit graduated from the Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi in 1998 with a MTech degree in Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology.  He completed a Master’s degree in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology in 2001 at SUNY—Stony Brook.  Following his Masters program he joined Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory’s Genomic Research Center as a Scientific Programmer responsible for developing solutions to automate production of genomic sequences.  After three years at Cold Spring he joined Affymetrix, a California-based firm that develops products to enable exploration of genetic information.  As a Bioinformatics Engineer he represented his firm in a consortium of 78 multinational organizations and managed client relationships to gain acceptance of and funding for his firm’s technologies.  He has published research findings in Nature Genetics and other leading scientific publications. 

  • Catherine Virginia Eikel
    • Catherine graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001 with a BA degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.  Following graduation she joined Academy Health in Washington, DC where she worked on projects related to health care purchasing strategies by employers and health plans and reviewed funding proposals by health services researchers.  In 2003, she moved  to The Leapfrog Group, an organization of companies which use their collective market leverage to improve health care through value-based purchasing.  She was promoted to Director of Programs in 2006.  Her responsibilities included maintaining relationships with industry groups, representing Leapfrog to the press, leadership of the Hospital Reward Program, and advising Medicare and the Administration on implementing value-based purchasing. 

  • Andrew Todd Evans, JD
    • Andrew is a 2000 Honors graduate of Dartmouth College where he majored in Political Science.  He completed the JD degree in 2003 at the University of California Hastings College of Law.  Since law school he has been a practicing attorney with DiCaro, Coppo & Popcke, a health law firm based in Southern California.  The firm focuses primarily on representing physicians and hospitals in medical malpractice cases and other health care matters. 

  • Xiaoming (Ming) Fang
    • Ming graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2003 with a BS degree in Computer Science.  Following graduation he joined ZS Associates, San Mateo, CA.  He was promoted to Associate Consultant responsible for managing junior associates, assisting project managers, and maintaining client relationships.  He worked on a variety of engagements for pharmaceutical and biotech companies including evaluating in-licensing opportunities, conducting revenue forecasts, analyzing market data, and creating novel data reporting tools for a disease franchise.  In 2005, Ming accepted a position as Senior Manager in the Business Analytics and Forecasting Group of Gilead Sciences, Foster City, CA.  In this role he was responsible for evaluating the performance of commercialized therapies and designing incentive strategies for the sales force.  He worked closely with the issues of launching Gilead’s HIV drug and with the developing world group which strove to expand HIV Treatment access in 97 developing nations.

  • Hsin Hsin (Katherine) Cheng Foo
    • JKatherine graduated from Columbia University in 1997 where she majored in Biology.  She completed an MPH at UCLA in 2002.  She joined the Center for Disease Control, Atlanta in 2002  as a two-year Association of Schools Public Health Fellow.  She worked on health communications and marketing plans for HIV and TB.  She accepted a permanent position with CDC in 2004 and spent a year as a Health Education Specialist in the Division of Violence Prevention.  Her most recent position was with Constella Group, Atlanta, a health education communications consulting firm.  As a Divisional Communications Specialist, she oversaw a variety of communications projects for the federal government and other clients.  A major project was creating and managing a campaign to prevent dating abuse among young teens. 

  • Kara Lynn Fowler
    • Kara graduated from Harvard University in 2004 where she majored in Economics.  Following graduation, she joined Booz Allen Hamilton, MacLean, VA.  She was promoted to Senior Consultant and moved into an active role in the firm’s Organization and Change Group’s health care campaign by serving on health-related projects for government clients, including Department of Defense’s Chemical and Biological Defense Program and the Veteran’s Administration.

  • David Lazarus Frankel
    • David graduated from Pomona College in 2004 where he majored in Sociology.  Following graduation, he joined The Capital Group Companies, Los Angeles, an investment portfolio management company, as an Analyst calculating performance measures for the firm’s institutional clients and working with portfolio managers on long-term analyses of performance.  In 2005, he moved to Bel Air Investment Advisors, Los Angeles where he was promoted to Equity Analyst.  In this role he supports the portfolio managers by learning about various types of businesses, building financial models, and speaking with the management teams of various publicly-traded companies. 

  • Jason Ross Guercio
    • Jason is a 2004 Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Miami where he received a BS degree in Biology.  He has completed three years of Penn Medical School and is a joint MD/MBA degree candidate.  He was a Research Fellow at the Institute of Medicine in Summer 2005 where he conducted health policy research on drug safety.  In 2004, he completed an administrative internship at Lehigh Regional Medical Center, Lehigh Acres, FL.  He worked for the hospital CEO on a wide range of projects and feasibility studies.

  • Varun Gupta
    • Varun is a 2002 Honors graduate of Concord College where he majored in Computer Science.  He completed an MS degree in Computer Science at Indiana University in 2004.  He then joined Humana, Inc., Louisville, KY where he was promoted to Project Manager in the Innovation Center, Humana’s internal consulting group.  He has played important roles in cross-functional teams on a number of key projects including launch of a web-based consumer engagement tool, designing clinical intervention programs, supporting UK initiative’s and using claims data to build models that predict member’s future health.  He was selected to join Humana’s “Accelerated Leadership Program” which gives the opportunity to interact with the CEO and Senior VP’s.  His projects were with M&A and Operations focused on redesigning the insurance enrollment process and doing due diligence on acquisition targets.

  • Kristen Harris
    • Kristen is a 2004 Honors graduate of the University of Michigan where she majored in African-American Studies and Biochemistry.  She has completed three years at Penn Medical School and is attending the program as a joint MD/MBA candidate.  She was a Research Assistant at the University of Michigan Health System in summer 2005.  Kristen has served as Co-chair of the local chapter of Student National Medical Association, Founding Member of the Penn Med Diversity Committee, and as a co-founder of the Friends of the Congressional Glaucoma Caucus Sight Savers Program.

  • Bosun Sinh Hau
    • Bosun is a 2001 Magna Cum Laude Phi Beta Kappa graduate of the University of Arizona where he received a BSHS degree in Physiology and a BA in Psychology.  He also received a BS in Molecular and Cell Biology in 2005 from the University of Arizona.  Following graduation he joined Eli Lilly & Co. as Sales Specialist working with diabetes and acute care products.  With over two years experience in pharmaceutical sales he made a career switch to Prudential Equity Group, New York where he was an Associate Analyst in the equity research group, conducting fundamental research and analysis on large cap medical technology and related health care sectors.  In 2004 he moved to J.P. Morgan Securities as a Senior Associate Analyst covering U.S. Major Pharmaceuticals and related health care sectors.

  • Samuel Harrison (Sam) Holliday
    • Sam graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001 with a BSE degree in Engineering.  Following graduation he joined Accenture, New York where he was promoted to Manager.  He has managed strategic and operational engagements for several large pharmaceutical companies.  A major focus of his work was assisting these companies to implement new technology and to explore the use of electronic patient health information.

  • Brian Hong
    • Brian is a 2000 Summa Cum Laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he received a BA degree in Mathematics.  Following graduation he started his career as a risk analyst with a sales and trading firm and then switched to Triene, NY, an independent equity research firm focused on the technology, telecom, and media industries.  As an Analyst, Brian’s primary responsibility was the initiation and maintenance of equity research coverage on several companies in the semiconductor sector.  In 2002, he joined General Atlantic, Greenwich, CT a leading global private equity firm, as an Analyst in the Research Group.  He was assigned to the Financial Services investment team where he evaluated opportunities within a variety of technology markets addressing the financial services vertical.  In 2006 he joined the Health Care team and was promoted to Associate.  In this role he evaluated investments in health service areas and led the financial diligence and analysis in a major investment. 

  • Bei Huang
    • Bei is a 2000 Honors graduate of Zhejiang University where she earned a BE degree in Engineering. She completed a dual Masters degree in Pharmaceutical Engineering and Chemical Engineering at the University of Michigan in 2004.  She worked as a research assistant and intern in both the Engineering and Pharmacy Schools in a pharmaceutical solids group.  She joined Bristol-Myers Squibb, New Brunswick, NJ in 2005 as an Associate Research Scientist.  She worked with a cross-functional scientific team to apply a new analytical technology to a quality test required by the FDA. She was a key member of the follow-on development team, selecting talent, translating a broad vision into three focused areas, and setting up labs and workflows.  The new group has started investigations for all four late-stage projects.

  • Rahul Kaul
    • Rahul graduated in 1997 from Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology with a BE degree in Engineering.  He completed a Masters of Manufacturing Management at Penn State University in 1999.  Following graduation, he joined Deloitte Consulting, Washington, DC where he worked on business process and SAP implementation engagements for consumer products companies.  He returned to India in late 2001 and worked for Citigroup, India.  He returned to the U.S. in 2003 and worked for ICF International, a Washington, DC consulting firm.  He moved to Capgemini in December, 2003.  As a Senior Consultant, he was responsible for project management on a CRM application for a large telecom company and worked on engagements to improve sales and services for telecom, behavioral services and utilities companies. 

  • David Mitra (Dave) Kerwar
    • David graduated from Hamilton College in 2000 with a BA degree in Computer Science and Communications Studies.  Following graduation he joined C-bridge Internet Solutions, San Francisco as a Technical Consultant where he consulted to companies on building web-based solutions.  In 2001, he joined Broadlane, a health care cost management company that leverages technology to automate health care supply chain business processes.  He was promoted to Director of the Product Management Group which manages the strategy development, marketing, and sales of Broadlane Technologies. 

  • Rebecca Denise Kolsky
    • Rebecca graduated from Yale University in 2001 with a BA degree in African Studies.  She has completed three years of medical school at Penn Med and is completing the Program as a joint MD/MBA candidate.  In 2003-2004 she spent a year as an Intern with the Center for Infectious Disease Research, Lusaka, Zambia where she spearheaded a new program to prevent mothers-to-child transmission of HIV in the remote district of Mongo.  She has also completed internships in AIDs research and environmental education and training.

  • Michael John Krautkramer
    • Michael is a 1997 Honors graduate of the University of Wisconsin where he received a BS degree in Engineering.  Following graduation, he joined Guidant Corporation, St. Paul, MN as a Manufacturing Engineer.  He was promoted to Advanced Technology Engineer responsible for projects related to the design and manufacture of a critical implantable defibrillator component.  In 2003, he moved to Guidant’s (now Boston Scientific) sales organization working as a Sales Representative in the Philadelphia region.  He was responsible for a $6.5M sales territory of both academic and community hospitals building relationships with cardiologists and hospital administrators and increasing market share. 

  • Deepa Kumaraiah
    • Deepa is a 2003 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Brown University where she majored in Neuroscience.  She has completed three years of Penn Medical School and is completing the program as a joint MD/MBA student.  Following graduation, she spent a year as a Coro Fellow in Public Affairs, a leadership training program that introduces fellows to all aspects of the public affairs arena.  She completed rotations in Northern California county governments, public affairs organizations and the California Health Care Foundation.  She also completed internships at the Rhode Island Health Department and a variety of public health and medical research organizations. 

  • Lauren Lee Lisher
    • Lauren is a 2003 Honors graduate of Duke University where she majored in History.  Following graduation, she joined The Advisory Board Company in Washington, DC where she was promoted to Manager responsible for 140 U.S. and international hospital accounts and coordinating the consulting process for a large number of projects regarding planning and trends in major hospital services.  In 2005, she joined Kasina, New York, a boutique consulting firm.  She led multiple consulting projects to improve the sales and marketing strategies at top 50 asset management companies.

  • Bernice Kai Lam Ma
    • Bernice graduated from Carnegie-Mellon University in 2004 where she received a BS degree in Computer Science.  Following graduation, she joined Deutsche Bank, New York as an Associate in Information Technology with the Money Transfer New Architecture Group.  Her responsibilities were to manage the development, integration testing, and production release of MTNA Applications.  She also completed an internship at CA Surgica, an orthopedic imaging company. This experience led to her interest in health care information technology. 

  • Jonathan Niles Maack
    • Jonathan is a 2000 Summa Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of New York University where he majored in Fine Arts.  Following graduation he joined the World Bank Group, Washington, DC and completed the two-year Junior Professional Associate program.  He started as a desk researcher assessing political risk and then became involved in implementing a program which invited reform opponents into the dialogue and conducted rapid research on their objectives.  In 2003 he joined The Advisory Board Company where he was promoted to Director, New Product Development.  In this role, he developed new businesses and played a key role in three launches.

  • Arjun Madan
    • Arjun graduated from Delhi University, New Delhi, India in 1998 where he earned a B.Com. degree in Business Administration.  He completed the Institutes of Chartered Accountants of India certification program in 2002.  Following graduation he joined KPMG, Gurgaon, India, as an Associate in the firm’s audit practice.  He then spent a year partnering with a family member to start a successful accounts payable and medical transcription off-shoring company.  He returned to KPMG in 2002 as Assistant Manager of Transaction Services where he assisted acquirer/investor organizations in evaluating target companies in India.  In 2004, he moved to the US and joined American Express, New York where he was Manager of Global Re-engineering responsible for, providing strategic consulting services for Amex’s global business.  He was promoted in 2007 to Senior Manager of Acquisitions where he created strategies for transforming the global $4 billion credit card sales force acquisition channel into a dependable investment vehicle for Amex.  Arjun is the proprietor of a medicinal herb plantation in India.   

  • Sebastien Jerome Marti, PhD
    • Sebastien is a 1999 Honors graduate of the University of Geneva where he received a PharmD degree.  He completed a PhD Magna Cum Laude in Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2004 at the University of Basel.  He then joined Galenica, Alloga Division.  Galenica is the top vertically integrated Swiss health care services company.  As Project Manager, Process Excellence, he successfully re-designed the clinical trial management process in Switzerland.  He was offered a position with Alliance Boots Alloga Division and moved to the UK.  In this role he analyzed current business processes across Europe and defined best practices for European logistical operations and designed implementation plans.  After a stint in marketing, sales, and strategy, within the same division, he moved to the role of Commercial and Quality Manager.  He was responsible for market planning and implementation of Alloga services across Europe and for leading development of European and local growth strategies.

  • Gregg William McConnell
    • Greg is a 1997 graduate of Cornell University where he majored in Biology.  His first position following graduation was with The MONY Group, Syracuse, where he was an Analyst.  In 1999, he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers as an Analyst where he led a team in human resource benefits consulting.  He then moved to Baseline Financial Services/Thomson Financial in 2000 where he was promoted to Senior Application Consultant.  He provided proactive technical and operational account management to various institutional investment clients.  His most recent position was with EquiLend, New York.  As a Senior Business Development Analyst he designed new strategic components, developed business methodologies, and coordinated multi-team client integrations.  Greg is an active member of the New York Biotechnology Association.

  • Ashish Mehta
    • Ashish is a 1994 Honors graduate of Bombay University, Bombay, India where he received a BS degree in Engineering.  He completed a MS in Engineering at SUNY - Buffalo in 1997.  He then joined Sun Microsystems.  He has worked in a variety of technical and leadership roles including working in collaboration with major customers to deliver key functionality of Sun technology products and programs.  In the last year he has worked with local sales teams to present technologies to major clients on Wall Street, transferring his considerable knowledge of technology to the firm’s marketing, business development, and product development groups. 

  • Naoko Miake
    • Naoko graduated from the University of Tokyo in 2001 where she received a BA degree in Economics.  She completed a Masters of Medical Administration at Tokyo Medical and Dental University in 2007.  After receiving her BA degree she joined JPMorgan Chase Bank, Tokyo as an Economist responsible for monitoring key sectors of the Japanese and Korean economies.  She authored JPMorgan’s flagship weekly reports “Global Data Watch” and “Weekly Data Watch”.  In 2004 she accepted a position as Economist at The Bank of Japan in Tokyo.  She covers 47 countries for the Bank’s International Research Department and has built a collaborative relationship with the Domestic Research Department.  Naoko has visited many hospitals in Asia where she learned about various operating models and about different cultures and values. 

  • Aaron David Moser
    • Aaron is a 2001 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Cornell University with a major in Business Administration.  Following graduation, he joined JPMorgan Chase & Co., New York as an Analyst in the M&A group where he built detailed financial and operating models across a broad range of industries to evaluate M&A, LBO’s, IPO’s, and other types of financial transactions.  In 2004, he accepted an Analyst position with JLL Partners, a venture capital/private equity firm based in New York.  In this role he worked as a part of a 15-person leveraged buyout firm managing committed capital in several sectors including health care.  In 2006, he was offered a position as VP of Strategic Planning with Medical Card System, a managed care provider in San Juan, Puerto Rico.  His responsibilities included evaluating strategic alternatives for the Company, building operational models to analyze future growth opportunities, managing the sales process and directing special projects for the CEO. 

  • Peter Rolf Muller
    • Peter graduated from Duke University in 2001 with a BA degree in Sociology.  Following graduation he joined the Advisory Board Company as a Research Associate researching and writing custom reports on a variety of issues for hospital executives.  He was promoted to Staff Writer for the Nursing Executive Watch, a weekly publication that addresses nursing issues for a subscriber base of approximately 25,000 nurse executives.  From 2003 to 2005 he was with New York-Presbyterian Hospital as a Service Improvement Specialist responsible for improving patient satisfaction scores in the Emergency Department.  He received Six Sigma Green Belt training and worked on a project to improve response time to patients.  In 2006, he moved to Healthfirst, New York as Performance Improvement Specialist responsible for leading Six Sigma teams to improve efficiency in core areas of the company.  He has been certified as a Sigma Black Belt.

  • Pushkar Murthy
    • Pushkar graduated in 1996 from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay with a BSE degree in Civil Engineering.  He completed a Masters in Civil Engineering in 1998 at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst.  He then joined ZS Associates, Evanston where he was promoted to Consultant.  He worked on sales force management projects in the pharmaceutical and medical device industries in the US, Japan, and Brazil.  In 2001 he moved to Epocrates, San Mateo, CA where he was promoted to Senior Manager, responsible for servicing all decision support data analysis and reporting needs, supporting sales teams with product pricing models, and providing internal operations analysis. 

  • Kenneth Gabriel (Ken) Nesmith
    • Ken graduated from MIT in 2005 where he majored in Biology and Political Science.  Following graduation, he was one of the first hires of Codon Devices, Cambridge, MA, a start-up biotechnology company.  As a project manager, he took on many roles as the company developed, including lab management, synthesizing a set of difficult DNA queries, analyzing possible market segments and negotiating with suppliers.  In 2006 he moved to Shanghai, China to teach high school students English and Biology and to experience a dynamic high growth economy.

  • Priya Vinekar Nilekani
    • Priya is a 2002 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Duke University where she earned a BSE degree in Engineering.  Following graduation she joined Capital One Financial, McLean, VA as a Business Analyst.  She managed a cross functional team to create a new IT process to adjust customer accounts and developed a successful new product strategy.  In 2005 she joined Health Advances, a life sciences consulting firm based in Weston, MA.  As a Senior Analyst she worked on a variety of engagements for medical device and biopharmaceutical clients. 

  • Wesley (Wes) Kim Nurss
    • Wes graduated from the University of California, Berkeley in 2002 with a BS degree in Chemistry and a BA degree in Cognitive Science.  He started his career at Pantheon Ventures, San Francisco as an Investment Analyst where he assisted in the sourcing, evaluation, and monitoring of private equity investments.  In 2004 he moved to Jazz Pharmaceuticals, Palo Alto in a Business Analyst role.  He worked with cross-functional teams to create functional models for the licensing and acquisition of products and technologies.  He also created and implemented a 10 year corporate financial forecasting tool used to analyze the company’s product portfolio and participated in negotiating a variety of transactions such as licensing of drugs and delivery technologies and patents.  He created the 2006 corporate budget for the company. 

  • Sarah Jeanne Olson
    • Sarah is a 2002 Magna Cum Laude, Phi Beta Kappa graduate of St. Olaf College where she majored in Economics.  Following graduation she joined Securian Financial Group, St. Paul, MN in the firm’s management development program.  She joined the broker-dealer division where she was promoted to Supervisor and created a team to develop extensive financial reporting capabilities and performance tools for the organization.  In order to pursue her interest in health care, she joined Health Advances, a life sciences consulting firm, in 2005.  She worked on strategic decision making engagements for biotechnology, pharmaceutical, and medical device companies.

  • Mitesh Subhash Patel
    • Mitesh is a 2004 Honors graduate of the University of Michigan where he majored in Economics and Biochemistry.  He has completed three years of medical school at the University of Michigan.  While in medical school, he has worked as a Research Associate for the University of Michigan General Pediatrics Division conducting a project to analyze the impact of chickenpox vaccine on hospital costs and admissions and designing a model to estimate cost effectiveness of an advertising program that would increase elderly influenza vaccination rates.  He was a co-author on a paper published in a medical journal.  He also was a Research Associate in the Surgery Department where he worked with a team of physicians and MBA students to evaluate recipient factors that impact listing for kidney transplantation. 

  • Sonya Raisinghani
    • Sonya is a 2003 Honors graduate of the University of Michigan where she majored in Business Administration.  Following graduation, she joined Citigroup as a Financial Analyst in the Global Industrial Group of the Investment Banking Division.  She was responsible for all aspects of capital raising transactions and M&A advisory engagements.  In 2006, she moved to Sithe Global Power, a start-up power plant developer funded by the Blackstone Group.  As a Project Finance Analyst she identified and evaluated international investment opportunities in greenfield developments and acquisitions of power generation assets and served as the primary analyst for new business development in Asia and the Americas.  She also serves as a consultant to Laurel Park West, a family-owned Assisted Living Facility in Livonia, MI.

  • Lisa Ramon
    • Lisa graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2004 with a BSE degree in Engineering.  Following graduation, she joined Global Prior Art, a firm which specializes in intellectual property strategy for medical technology firms.  She was promoted to Group Leader responsible for managing projects focused on surgical instrumentation and mechanical-based devices.  Key tasks included analyzing IP space to provide strategic recommendations on R&D, business development, and product innovations in the medical device field and identifying key patents and research relevant to IP litigation cases.

  • Naslin Rasheed
    • Naslin graduated from the National University of Singapore in 2002 with a BSC degree in Biology.  She also completed an MS degree at Singapore in 2006.  She began her career at National University Medical Institute, Singapore as a Research Assistant in an Oncology Lab.  From 2003 to 2006, she was a Junior Research Fellow with the Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology, conducting biomedical research on developmental disorders of the bone and post-menopausal osteoporosis.  In 2006 she moved to GlaxoSmithKline Pte Ltd, Singapore as a Medical Affairs Associate.  She worked on activities related to the new cervical cancer and HPV vaccine such as providing scientific input into product strategy in collaboration with the marketing department, working with ad agencies on promotional materials, organizing medical symposia, and work with non-profit health care organizations to raise funds for cervical cancer.  Naslin is active in AWARE, Singapore’s only women’s issues advocacy group and in Action for AIDS, an NGO focused on AIDS advocacy. 

  • Kedem Rephaeli
    • Kedem is a 2003 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Tel-Aviv University where he majored in Economics and Management.  He joined PricewaterhouseCoopers, Tel-Aviv, in 2004 where he was promoted to Senior Consultant.  He worked on R&D portfolio evaluations, portfolio management and market attractiveness reviews for young medical technology companies. 

  • Tracey Mayling Rohrer
    • Tracy is a 2001 Magna Cum Laude graduate of University of Pennsylvania where she majored in Finance.  She then spent two years at Credit Suisse First Boston, New York as an Analyst in the Private Equity/Venture Capital Group.  In 2004, she moved to Bearing Point, Chicago, a financial advisory services firm.  She performed valuations for privately and publicly held corporations across a variety of industries.  In 2005, she joined FTI Consulting, Chicago, where she was promoted to Director.  Her responsibilities included conducting damage calculations, valuations, and other analyses for litigation purposes.  Clients included a variety of industries such as health care, consumer products, advertising, construction, insurance and manufacturing..

  • Vaibhav Vijay Saraiya
    • Vaibhav graduated from University of Pennsylvania in 2001 with a BSE degree in Engineering and BS degree in Finance.  Following graduation, he spent three years with Bain & Company, New York where he was promoted to Senior Associate.  He performed strategy and implementation projects for corporate and private equity clients.  In 2004, he joined Jupiter Partners, New York, a middle market private equity firm specializing in leveraged buyouts in health care business services, specialty retail and other industries.  He was promoted to Associate Vice President.  He worked on transactions for health care services and other companies and was involved in the management of five portfolio companies including JSA Healthcare.

  • Jill Ashley Schondebare
    • Jill is a 2001 Honors graduate of Cornell University where she was a Pre-Medicine major.  She has completed two years of medical school at the University of Connecticut.  She will complete her medical training after completing the MBA program.  Following graduation from Cornell, she worked as a Lab Technician at Columbia Medical Center for 8 months on a clinical trials team testing HIV treatments and vaccines.  She then spent three years at Aon Corp., McLagan Partners Division, Stamford, CT where she was promoted to Associate, responsible for managing competitive pay and productivity analysis products for clients’ capital markets fixed income divisions.  While a medical student at University of Connecticut, Jill has studied global health systems and financing models.  She spent the summer of 2006 at the International Health Central American Institute Foundation in San Jose, Costa Rica examining the Costa Rican health care system.

  • Shimul Sengupta
    • Shimul graduated from the University of Pune, India in 2000 with a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering.  He completed an MS in Mechanical Engineering in 2004 from Stanford University.  Following graduation, he joined The Reliance Group, Bombay, India as an Assistant Manager in the Business Development Department where he managed the commercial functions of the Data Services Group and negotiated contracts for operation of the world’s largest refinery.  After completing his MS degree, he spent 8 months with the V.A., Palo Alto as a Research Associate.  In 2005 he joined St. Jude Medical, Cardiac Rhythm Management Division as an Engineer where he led multiple teams in the successful completion and submission of 5 animal studies of biomedical devices to FDA and did product development of 5 biomedical devices submitted to domestic and international regulatory bodies.  Shimul and his team won First Prize at Ideas Contest for their work on a device to mitigate infant trauma during primary care procedures.

  • Sonal Suresh Shah
    • Sonal is a 2004 Honors graduate of Rutgers University where she received a PharmD degree in Pharmacology.  She then joined Johnson & Johnson Pharmaceutical Research and Development, Titusville, NJ as a Benefit Risk Management Post-Doctoral Fellow.  She provided clinical expertise on the safety of Johnson & Johnson’s women’s health, oncology and internal medicine products.  In 2005 she moved to Johnson & Johnson ALZA, Mountain View, CA where she was promoted to Project Management Leader of IONSYS, a drug-device combination project.  In this role she served as COO for the IONSYS cross-functional strategic core team, responsible for managing a sub-team and a multi-million dollar R&D program budget, and for maintaining an aggressive time line. 

  • Stephen Michael Shulstein
    • Stephen graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2001 with a BS degree in Finance.  He joined Banc of America Securities after graduation as a Healthcare Investment Banking Analyst.  He worked on a variety of transactions involving biotechnology and health care services companies, including in-depth work in the dialysis space.  In 2004 he joined Lehman Brothers as a Research Associate in the Healthcare Facilities Equity Research Group.  In this role, he performed primary research and maintained financial models for 20 companies under coverage.  He was the lead associate on coverage of the clinical lab sector. 

  • Corrin Danielle Silver
    • Corrin is a 2003 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Boston College where she majored in Management. Her first position after college was with Sovereign Bank as a Junior Credit Analyst in the Commercial Real Estate Division.  In 2004 she joined Thomson Financial, a New York firm which is a leading source of integrated information and technology applications for major international investment banks.  As a Senior Associate in the Capital Markets Consulting Group she and her team targeted investors for equity and debt offerings by applying buy-side expertise and analytical skills to the firm’s information and technology applications.  Clients included leading investment banks and consulting firms across the globe. 

  • Meir Stein
    • Meir is a 2003 Summa Cum Laude graduate of the Technion - Israel Institute of Technology, Haifa, with a BSC degree in Engineering and Chemistry.  Following graduation, he joined Shaldor Ltd, Tel Aviv, a leading Israeli strategy consulting firm.  He was promoted to Team Leader responsible for leading and managing the analytical components of consulting projects and maintaining client relationships.  He worked on engagements for a wide range of clients including several global health care companies and government agencies.

  • Chizuru (Ruby) Suga
    • Chizuru graduated from the University of Tokyo in 2003 where she majored in International Financial Law.  Since 2003, she has worked for Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry on a variety of key projects aimed at deregulating Japan’s economy.  Some of her projects included, helping to draft a road map for Japan’s five-year national climate change policies and contributing to amendments of energy conservation laws to promote structural reform of the inefficient distribution system.  Most recently, she was appointed chief of assistant directors in her division and launched eight workshops with specialists from business to support energy experts in following up G8 Gleneagles summit.  She also participated in WTO meetings in Geneva as an energy expert.  She was awarded a Japanese government fellowship to study aboard.

  • Jehee Suh
    • Jehee is 2002 Honors graduate of Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea where he majored in Biology.  Following graduation, he joined McKinsey’s Seoul office as a Business Analyst.  After working on a number of engagements for a variety of clients he seized an opportunity to join a select group of consultants to create the McKinsey Korea Health Care Practice.  One of his major projects was the creation of a ten-year roadmap for the national health insurance system.  He and his team produced a “Blueprint to Reform Korean Healthcare”, which was presented to the newly-elected President of Korea.  In 2005, he moved to Novartis, Seoul as a Product Manager where he was successful in turning around a poorly performing product.  He also leads key Asia-Pacific initiatives at Novartis.

  • Christian John Taubman
    • Christian graduated from Harvard University in 2000 where he received a BA degree in Computer Science.  Following graduation, he joined Lime Brokerage, New York as a Software Engineer.  He designed and developed core modules for the firm’s trading system.  He then spent 2003-2004 with International Fund Services where he designed and developed components of a fund management system handing $50 billion in assets.  In 2004 he moved to ThoughtWorks, an IT consulting firm, where he was promoted to Project Manager.  In this role he was responsible for managing teams in the design and development of strategic custom software application.  Clients included a major insurance company and a leading medical imaging manufacturer. 

  • Brenda Nicole Taylor
    • Brenda is a 2001 Magna Cum Laude graduate of Harvard University where she majored in Biology and Psychology.  Since graduation she has trained in track and field to represent the U.S. in World Championships and the Olympic Games.  In 2004 she was a member of the U.S. Olympics Team, becoming the most efficient 400 meter hurdler in history and the seventh fastest American woman of all time.  She was a co-founder and serves as Treasurer of the Professional Athletes Association, the first successful players union in track and field history.  Brenda worked at GAP, Inc., San Francisco as a Corporate Retail Management Trainee before resuming Olympic Training in 2002.  Most recently, she completed a cross-functional leadership program at Sharp Health Care, Chula Vista, CA.  She had responsibility for projects in finance, business development and quality assurance.

  • Phamornsak (Tor) Thienprasiddhi, MD
    • Tor completed his medical training at Mahidol University, Bangkok in 1999.  From 1999 to 2001 he was a physician in the Department of Surgery at Queen Sawangwattana Memorial Hospital in Sri Rocha.  In 2001 he became a Research Fellow in Glaucoma at NY Eye and Ear Infirmary, NY where he conducted research on diagnostics of early glaucoma and published several research papers.  He returned to Thailand in 2004 and was an Ophthalmology Resident at Chulalongkorn Hospital.  In 2005, he joined Sukumvit Hospital, Bangkok, as Organization Development Director.  He managed all major business functions of the hospital and successfully implemented marketing plans for new hospital departments and introduced a CRM program.

  • Lynn Hua Wang
    • Lynn graduated from Duke University in 2002 where she received a BSE degree in Engineering.  She completed a Masters in Engineering Management, also at Duke, in 2003.  She then joined GSK, Upper Merion, PA where she participated in a leadership development rotational program in the R&D Information Technology group.  She helped to pilot a knowledge management tool and evaluate its value.  She accepted a position with the Monitor Group in 2004.  She was promoted to Case Team Leader responsible for managing engagements with pharma and medical device clients.  Since March 2006, she has been with Monitor’s Shanghai office working with manufacturing clients on investment and marketing strategies. 

  • Mingbo Wang
    • Mingbo graduated with honors from Nanjing University of Science & Technology in 1999 with a BS degree in Computational Mathematics and Applied Software.  He received an MS degree in Statistics in 2004 from Arizona State University, Tempe, AZ.  Following his undergraduate degree, he worked as a Sales Representative for a Chinese electrical insulation company before coming to the U.S.  While completing his Masters degree, he worked as a Statistician for Nissan Technical Center, North America, analyzing customer survey data and improving forecasting models.  He joined UnitedHealth Group, Rocky Hill, CT in 2004 as Senior Business Analyst.  In this role he provided consulting services to leading PBMs and retail pharmacy chains, analyzed pharmacy costs and utilization and recommended business solutions to UnitedHealth Pharmaceutical Solutions.  He also conducted research on outcomes and potential savings.

  • Steven David Wislo
    • Steven is a 2001 Summa Cum Laude graduate of Dartmouth where he majored in Economics.  Following graduation, he joined the Monitor Group where he worked on marketing consulting engagements for medical device, pharmaceutical and insurance clients.  In 2005, he joined Genzyme, Cambridge, MA as an Associate Product Manager.  He assisted in developing the marketing strategy and led several tactical initiatives to support the marketing of a medical device.

  • Peter Jun Yoo
    • Peter graduated from Swarthmore College in 2001 where he received a BA degree in Music.  Following graduation, he joined San Alfonsi’s College Bound, a multi-purpose tutorial service, as a Teaching Associate.  In 2003, he accepted a position with Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary as a Research Technician, conducting experiments under the supervision of post-doctoral fellows.   In 2005, the Principal Investigator of the lab invited Peter to manage his new lab at Duke University.  As Lab Manager, he managed the budget and spending, oversaw all work with genetic models, trained new staff, and conducted experiments.
